ABOUT INDONESIAN COCOA ASSOCIATION (INCA)

OUR STORY

Indonesian cocoa industry enjoys a number of comparative advantages and opportunities, such as favorable environment and land resources for cocoa production, the potential for further area extension, and most importantly, cocoa is the farmer’s highly preferred crop. At the same time, world cocoa demand continues to increase. Therefore, cocoa sector development has tremendous potential to support programs for farmer’s income and prosperity improvement as well as to boost the national income from cocoa export and industry.

Inspired by the awareness of such potential, on 2nd National Cocoa Trade and Development, November 26-28, 1984 at Surabaya, all Indonesian Cocoa Stakeholders agreed to initiate establishment of an organization, which was later, called as the Indonesian Cocoa Association (INCA) as a media for all cocoa stakeholders. On April 11, 1988, a Committee was appointed to prepare INCA’s establishment. With the supports from cocoa communities and government, especially the Minister of Trade, Dr. J. Soedrajad Djiwandono and Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Sjarifuddin Baharsjah, on February 18, 1989, the Indonesian Cocoa Association (INCA – abbreviated as ASKINDO in Indonesian) was officially established.
